一、語義的用法說明
    call 是一個多義詞，有時在沒有上下文的情況下可能有歧義，如 call sb 就可表示“叫醒某人”、“呼喚某人”、 “打電話給某人”等。如：
    Will you go and call Jack? 你去叫一下杰克好嗎?
    Call me if I don’t wake up in time. 如果到時我沒醒的話，請叫醒我。
    I called him last night. 我昨晚給他打過話。
    二、搭配上的習(xí)慣
    比較以下正誤句型(誤句多為受漢語習(xí)慣影響)：
    這個東西用英語怎么說?
    正：What do you call this in English?
    正：How do you say this in English?
    誤：How do you call this in English?
    他名叫李華。
    正：His name is Li Hua. / He is called Li Hua.
    誤：His name is called Li Hua.
    比較：
    He called her name. 他喊某人的名字。
    It’s wrong call names. 罵人是不對的。
    The teacher called out the children’s names. 老師大聲點名(如考勤等)。
    三、與介詞搭配的習(xí)慣
    表示看望或拜訪某人，后接介詞 on 或 upon; 表示到某地拜訪，后接介詞 at。如：
    Let’s call on John [at John’s house]. 我們拜訪約翰(去約翰家)吧。
    注：有時可在 call 后用副詞 in, round 等。如：
    Let’s call in on John [at John’s house].
    另外，表示看望某人，有時還可后接 to see 或 and see。如：
    I’ll call in and see you soon. 我不久就會來看你。
    He was out when I call (round) to see him. 我去拜訪他時，他不在家。
    注：用于 call on [upon] sb to do sth, 意為叫或號召某人做某事。如：
    The teacher called on me to answer the question. 老師叫我回答問題。
    The Party called on us to study hard for the people. 黨號召我們要為人民努力學(xué)習(xí)。
    四、易錯提醒
    表示給某人或某地打電話，英語用 call (up) a person or a place, 注意不要按漢語習(xí)慣在 call 后加介詞 to。比較：
    最后我們決定給布萊克先生(的辦公室)打電話。
    正：At last we decided to call (up) Mr Black(‘s office).
    誤：At last we decided to call to Mr Black(‘s office). 注：call (out) to sb 意為大聲叫(喊)某人。
