    In some cultures it is important to arrive on time for appointments, but in other cultures people are not expected to arrive on time. In some countries, both people understand that one will arrive half an hour or an hour later. In the United States, however, most people expect you to arrive within five or ten minutes of the time you agreed on for most formal business or social appointments. For a party at someone's house, it is not rude to be up to 15 or 20 minutes late.
