    基本結(jié)構(gòu)
    第一段：自我簡(jiǎn)介，來信目的
    第一句，我是誰（姓名、身份、學(xué)校）。如果已經(jīng)拿到了該學(xué)校的interview，那好極了，在第二句提一下。最后一句：I am very interested in your research， so I write this letter to explore the possibility of doing research with you， with financial support.
    第二段：所謂關(guān)鍵信息
    首先說明為什么我單單看上了你。這要求對(duì)對(duì)方的research比較了解，不僅知道對(duì)方在做什么，還要知道對(duì)方做的東西中重點(diǎn)、亮點(diǎn)還有吸引你的點(diǎn)是什么。做cell signaling的人遍地都是，但你在做signaling crosstalk，尤其是你還涉足過數(shù)學(xué)建模！提出這一點(diǎn)，讓對(duì)方知道你對(duì)他有所了解，并且知道你的興趣所在，最重要的是表明你是認(rèn)真的！
    其次表現(xiàn)你自己。其實(shí)本科生申請(qǐng)，實(shí)在沒什么好表現(xiàn)的，因?yàn)楹苌儆腥四苡袑?shí)實(shí)在在的文章（獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)什么的千萬別列）?？赡苷嬲鼙憩F(xiàn)的就是態(tài)度吧：闡發(fā)一下對(duì)這個(gè)研究方向的看法，表現(xiàn)出你對(duì)這個(gè)領(lǐng)域的了解程度，你的insight，以及你對(duì)科研的熱忱（但是一定是間接表現(xiàn)，「I am very enthusiastic」這種話就別寫了）。另外要是個(gè)人有特別適合該研究方向的特質(zhì)一定提一下，比如我會(huì)說（作為生物專業(yè)的學(xué)生）with my good background in mathematics， 我可以blabla。
    第三段：給對(duì)方一個(gè)回復(fù)的理由（注意簡(jiǎn)明）
    可以就對(duì)方的research提一個(gè)有點(diǎn)水平的問題。水平不夠的話千萬別勉強(qiáng)，可以就這樣：
    In addition， would it be possible for you to tell me more about what you are concentrated on recently？ And I am also interested in what you are going to pursue in the future.
    生物專業(yè)一般來說你看到對(duì)方的文章反映的都是幾年前的研究方向，很可能對(duì)方已經(jīng)轉(zhuǎn)向了。這樣也能體現(xiàn)你是個(gè)理智認(rèn)真的申請(qǐng)者。
    第四段：介紹自己的科研經(jīng)歷，結(jié)束（簡(jiǎn)明！簡(jiǎn)明?。?BR>    科研經(jīng)歷最多兩句話帶過（與對(duì)方相關(guān)，就詳細(xì)一點(diǎn)說明內(nèi)容；與對(duì)方不相關(guān)，就突出長(zhǎng)度、成就等）。
    結(jié)尾：If you have available funds and are interested in my application， please let me know soon. Thank you！ 不卑不亢。

    I am xxx， a master student majored in Materials Engineering at xxx University， which is ranked around 10 in China. I am very interested in working with you so I write this email to you.
    I have passed the pre-application of the department， and the coordinator advised me submit a formal application to the department for further assessment. I have indicated in the application that I would like to join in your research group， because firstly my research background matches your research topics very well and secondly I am quite interested in working with you world leading scientists.
    I would like to describe my research experience in short. Since I was a third year undergraduate student in 2008， I entered the labs to do research on nano materials.
