    很多英式的地道表達(dá)在雅思口語考試中起著重要的作用。很多美國俚語(American Slang)在雅思口語(Ielts Speaking)考試中并不是那么的適宜，畢竟雅思口語是英國劍橋大學(xué)(Cambridge University ) 所創(chuàng)立。所以老師強(qiáng)烈建議在雅思口語的學(xué)習(xí)中多積累一些英式的expressions & phrases。尤其是idioms. 老師是每天閱讀BBC News ，尤其是其中BBC英語教學(xué)的欄目，非常的不錯(cuò)，今天就給全球的廣大烤鴨們分享一些英式的地道表達(dá)( British English Expressions ).
    如下都是引用的“BBC 英文教學(xué)”中的短語：
    1) 今日短語 A shoo-in
    可用來形容對(duì)于勝利十拿九穩(wěn)的人或團(tuán)隊(duì)。注意：單詞 "shoo" 的發(fā)音同“shoe 鞋子” 一樣。
    例句
    Rachel thought she'd be a shoo-in for a promotion within the company.After such a successful role, the actor was a shoo-in for an award nomination.He's a shoo-in to win the next election. He'll win easily.
    請(qǐng)注意
    短語 to be in someone else's shoes 的意思是設(shè)身處地?fù)Q位思考。
    例句
    If you were in her shoes, you wouldn't have gambled that money away.
    2) 今日短語 如果說一個(gè)東西 as dead as dodo
    意思就是這個(gè)東西已經(jīng)不再重要了，過時(shí)了。我們通常使用這個(gè)短語來談?wù)撍枷牖虺绷鳌?BR>    例句
    In the past people used to watch and record videos on VHS, but no that format is as dead as a dodo.
    The perception that smoking is good for your health is now as dea as a dodo.

    我們用 dead duck 來形容一件事情不怎么成功。

    Frank's coffee shop business was a dead duck sadly. His coffee was just awful, and the shop was in a bad location.
    3)今日短語 短語 fly off the handle 的意思是大發(fā)脾氣，勃然大怒。
    例句
    When I told Dad I had crashed his car again he flew off the handle.
    Jane is trying to get to sleep, so if you wake her up she will fly off the handle.

    短語 to get a handle on something 的意思是理解、掌握某事。
    例句
    I don't like this new computer - I can't get a handle on the strange keyboard.
    4) 今日短語表達(dá) a loose cannon的字面意思是“一個(gè)沒有被固定的大炮”，但其實(shí)際意思和打仗沒有關(guān)系，它被用來形容一個(gè)愛招惹麻煩、我行我素、舉止無法預(yù)料的人。
    例句
    Jason is an enthusiastic smart worker, but he can be a bit of a loose cannon. That’s why I get him to approve everything through me before he does it.
    杰森是個(gè)充滿熱情的聰明人，但他總是我行我素，行為完全無法預(yù)料。所以我要求他在做任何事情之前先得到我的同意。
    Peter is seen as something of a loose cannon by other team members.團(tuán)隊(duì)的成員都覺得彼得是一個(gè)舉止無法預(yù)料的人。
    She’s widely regarded as a loose cannon by those in the company.
    公司里的人普遍都認(rèn)為她是一個(gè)愛招惹麻煩的人。
    5) get up on the wrong side of the bed.
    你有“起床氣”嗎?早上睡醒后會(huì)心情不好、對(duì)人發(fā)脾氣、無精打采、心理陰暗、對(duì)叫醒你的人怒目相視甚至大罵……恭喜你，這些都是“起床氣”的癥狀^^“起床氣”其實(shí)是個(gè)很普遍的癥狀，所以在英語里也有相應(yīng)的表達(dá)方法，是什么呢?
    wake up/get up on the wrong side of the bed/get out of bed on thewrong side
    有起床氣/起床的方式不對(duì)/一大早起來心情不好
    使用場景：
    A：Why are you getting mad at me? Did I do anything wrong?
    A：你干嘛沖我發(fā)火啊?我做錯(cuò)了啥?
    B：Sorry, I got up on the wrong side of the bed.
    B：不好意思哈，我這是起床氣/一定是因?yàn)槲移鸫驳姆绞讲粚?duì)。
    A：(shouting in a rage)
    A：(怒吼中)
    Others：(whispering)Sounds like someone got up on the wrong sideof the bed
    this morning.
    其他人：(竊竊私語)這人好大的起床氣/某人是今天早上起床的方式不對(duì)吧……
    所以，一大早心情不佳的、發(fā)脾氣的，通通可以稱之為getting up on the wrong side of the bed，總之都要怪wrong side of the bed。雖然對(duì)應(yīng)的中文是“起床氣”，但是小編覺得，說是“起床的方式不對(duì)”，似乎更可愛一點(diǎn)呢~
    6) 短語 the icing on the cake
    “蛋糕上的糖衣”的意思是使一件原本己經(jīng)很好的事物變得更好，錦上添花。
    例句
    It is great to see my team in the final. And now I've got tickets to watch the match in the stadium - this is the icing on the cake!
    Mary's salary will double with her promotion. All the foreign travel and luxury hotels she'll be staying in are the icing on the cake.
    請(qǐng)注意
    我們用短語 a piece of cake “一塊蛋糕”來形容易如反掌的、輕松的事，正如漢語里說的“小菜一碟”。
    例句
    I am very good at Maths. The final exam will be a piece of cake.
    7) No-Brainer.
    在英語里，我們可以用 no-brainer 來形容生活中極其簡單的事情。這個(gè)說法還可以用來強(qiáng)調(diào)、說明一個(gè)決定很容易做出，根本不需要傷腦筋去想。這是一個(gè)非正式表達(dá)，一般以單數(shù)形式出現(xiàn)：a no-brainer When George had to choose between either sitting at home all daydoing nothing or coming out with me for a bit offun in the park, it was a no-brainer!
    當(dāng)喬治面對(duì)在家無聊得呆一天或跟我到公園去玩這兩個(gè)選擇時(shí)，我不用想都知道他會(huì)選哪個(gè)。
    This sounds like a no-brainer, especially for those people with language skills.這個(gè)聽起來太簡單了，尤其是對(duì)于那些有語言技能的人。The offer of a full scholarship made Sally’s choice of university a no-brainer.那所大學(xué)提供全額獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金，這讓莎莉很容易得決定了去哪所大學(xué)上學(xué)。
