如果我們對2和3感到略有困惑的話，其實主要不是因為我們的理解能力不夠好，而是閱讀方法太急?？偙荒切皌hat,in which”牽著鼻子，試圖一口氣讀完（這是一個通病，我們以為高手就是一口氣讀完一個長句的，其實高手也是一個意群一個意群地讀的，只不過他的停頓時間幾乎可不計）。閱讀速度不是眼睛在單位時間內掃過多少單詞，而是懂了多少意思！
但是，通過意群來讀，許多人都知道，具體怎么運用呢？
可以這樣來降“速”（沒有理解的閱讀速度是虛的）：假想對面站著另外一人，你說話，他只能通過聽你的話來復述。
比如2.

There is not even any air in it 甚至連空氣都沒有
To take the air out of anything, 而要想從抽走空氣
We need a pump; 需要泵
but even the best air-pump cannot take all air out. 但即使最好的泵也不可能把空氣抽光
感覺不錯的可以試試翻譯3.這個句子，感覺太簡單的就試試這句話：

有輔導書教導我們，“要先找句子主干”。實際上那些主干都是出書人看懂之后，添加分析的，在“看懂”的那一瞬間，根本沒有分析主干這個過程。要達到這樣的水平，其實離我們只有一層窗戶紙。那就是在3周內，在背單詞的過程中，連續(xù)復述150~200個句子。所以，這個時候，選擇例句好的詞匯書非常重要。最好是象“2.”句那樣的。堅持下來，你的眼睛就沒有思維快了。
