    余姚楊梅，顆大、色艷、汁多、味重，自古名噪海內(nèi)外，其種植歷史至少已有兩千年，而且據(jù)境內(nèi)河姆渡遺址的考古發(fā)現(xiàn)，七千年前就有野楊梅存在，由此贏得“余姚楊梅冠天下”的美麗盛譽(yù)。1995年，余姚被中央農(nóng)業(yè)部命名為“中國楊梅之鄉(xiāng)”，2004年被評為“楊梅原產(chǎn)地”。每年6月中旬至7月初，浙江省余姚市都會舉辦楊梅節(jié)。

    Yuyao bayberry, with big round fruit, bright color, succulence and fruity intense flavor, has been grown for at least 20,000 years. According to the archeological discovery at the Hemudu remains, wild bayberry was found 70,000 years ago. Thus, it enjoys the good reputation of "Yuyao bayberry, the best in the world". In 1995, Yuyao was named as the "Origin of Bayberry in China" by the Ministry of Agriculture of China. It was awarded as "Origin of Bayberry" in 2004. The Bayberry Festival falls from mid-June to early July each year in Yuyao, Zhejiang province.
