    比較常見(jiàn)的一種說(shuō)法是blind date。我們來(lái)看這句話(huà)：
    A blind date is a date where the people involved have not met each other previously. The match could have been arranged by mutual friends, relatives or by a dating system。
    因?yàn)椤跋嘤H”是“從未晤面的男女經(jīng)第三者安排所作的約會(huì)”，這么看來(lái)英語(yǔ)中的這個(gè)“blind”用得真是相當(dāng)?shù)貍魃衲?。可不能看到這個(gè)說(shuō)法就望文生義地以為是“盲目約會(huì)”或“瞎約會(huì)”哦。
    除此之外，現(xiàn)在網(wǎng)絡(luò)非常發(fā)達(dá)，很多相親的人在約會(huì)之前就已經(jīng)在網(wǎng)上看到過(guò)對(duì)方的照片，甚至用聊天軟件聊天過(guò)了。
    這樣的“相親”叫做nearsighted date，也就是“近視相親”。我們來(lái)看這句話(huà)：
    As opposed to a blind date, where you have no idea what the other person looks like, a nearsighted date is one where you’ve seen a photo or chatted via web before meeting in person。
    所以說(shuō)“近視相親”是相對(duì)于“盲約”而言的，后者在見(jiàn)面前根本不知道對(duì)方長(zhǎng)什么樣，而前者則事先看過(guò)照片或者在網(wǎng)上視頻聊過(guò)天。
    這聽(tīng)上去似乎比“blind date”要可靠很多，不過(guò)有時(shí)候照片也不能代表一切，比如這種尷尬的情況：
    The picture he emailed me must have been from before he quit the gym. 我昨天晚上去相親了，他郵件給我的照片肯定是他還在鍛煉身體的時(shí)候拍的。
