    1. 所謂雙重所有格就是指將 –’s 所有格與of所有格結(jié)合起來一起使用。如：
    a friend of my father’s 我父親的一位朋友
    a photo of Mr Smith’s 史密斯先生的一張照片
    that son of Jim’s 吉姆的那個兒子
    出現(xiàn)雙重所有格的情況，主要是因為在一個名詞前通常只能用一個限定詞，例如在son一詞之前，我們不能同時使用that和Jim’s兩個限定詞，即不能說Jim’s that son，而只可說that son of Jim’s。
    2. 使用雙重所有格應(yīng)注意的幾點
    (1) 受雙重所有格修飾的名詞通常不能是專有名詞或具有獨一無二性質(zhì)的名詞，如不說a father of Mary’s，可改說Mary’s father。
    (2) 受雙重所有格修飾的名詞通常不能帶定冠詞，但可帶指示代詞this, that, these或those，表示某種感情色彩（如贊賞、厭惡等），如不說 the masterpiece of Tom’s，但可說 this / that masterpiece of Tom’s。
    (3) 雙重所有格中帶-’s所有格的名詞通常應(yīng)是確指的，如不說 a brother of a friend’s，但可說 a friend of my friend’s。
    (4) 雙重所有格中帶-’s所有格的名詞通常應(yīng)是有生命的，如不說a window of the room’s，應(yīng)改為a window of the room。
    3. 有時兩種所有格均可使用，但所表達的意義不同。如：
    This is a photo of my mother’s. 這是我母親收藏的一張照片。（照片上照的不是母親，但該照片為母親所收藏）
    This is a photo of my mother. 這是我母親照的一張照片。（照片上的人是我母親）
    He’s a friend of my father’s. 他是我父親的一個朋友。(意指朋友不只一個)
    He’s a friend of my father. 他是我父親的朋友。(強調(diào)兩人之間的友情)
