    The Best Art Critics

    First listen and then answer the question.

    Who is the student's best critic?

    I am an art student and I paint a lot of pictures.
    我是個學藝術(shù)的學生，畫了很多畫。
    Many people pretend that they understand modern art.

    They always tell you what a picture is 'about'.
    總是告訴你一幅畫的“意思”是什么。
    Of course, many pictures are not 'about' anything.
    當然，有很多畫是什么“意思”也沒有的。
    They are just pretty patterns.

    We like them in the same way that we like pretty curtain material.

    I think that young children often appreciate modern pictures better than anyone else.

    They notice more.

    My sister is only seven,
    我的妹妹只有7歲，
    but she always tells me whether my pictures are good or not.

    She came into my room yesterday.
    昨天她到我房里來了。
    What are you doing?' she asked.
    “你在干什么？”她問。
    I'm hanging this picture on the wall,' I answered. 'It's a new one. Do you like it?'
    “我正把這幅畫掛到墻上”，我回答，“這是幅新畫，你喜歡嗎？”
    She looked at it critically for a moment.
    她用挑剔的目光看了一會。
    It's all right,' she said, 'but isn't it upside down?'
    “還好吧，”她說，“但是是不是掛倒了？”
    I looked at it again.
    我再次看了看。
    She was right! It was!
